James D. Squires (born 1943) has been a journalist, editor, author and political adviser. He graduated from George Peabody College for Teachers in 1966 and began his journalism career at the Nashville Tennesseean; he also worked for the Sentinel star in Orlando, Fla., and the Chicago Tribune. He taught courses at Harvard University in 1990 and at Middle Tennessee State University in 1992.
